Everyone leraned lots of interesting information about life in the 1860s.

Ms. Arnetha explains how much hard work is involved in harvesting cotton by hand.

Jason Wright performed some spirituals and explained that these songs were one way slaves were able to hold on to their original cultures.

The girls even got to participate by singing along...and some volunteered to participate in a ring chant where you sing, dance and make music by clapping hands and stomping feet.

At the end of the program, Ms Kim had to choose a winner for the costume contest out of all the great outfits.

Mary was declared the winner with her authenic looking costume.

But other girls also got some great doorprizes, including some handmade doll dresses (made by Ms. Brenda) from 'Miss Ford's Dress Shop.'
We had a 'thank you' gift for Mrs. Sherry Laster for taking the time to direct the play.
